Bandpass Design has introduced a new Puzzle Tables collection, responding to a season when families gather indoors and turn to jigsaw puzzles and tabletop games for shared entertainment. The collection addresses a common challenge in modern homes, where a single piece of furniture often must transition from everyday dining to game night without requiring a separate, dedicated game room.
The handcrafted collection reflects a broader trend toward furniture that serves several roles at once. As homes grow more compact and living spaces do double duty, interest has risen in tables that support puzzles and games while still functioning as everyday surfaces. Each table in the collection features a recessed area where a puzzle can be laid out and left undisturbed, even when the surface is used for meals or other activities between sessions.

Two models in the collection illustrate the range of the concept. The Firefly Board Game Coffee Table pairs a compact game area with a drawer for storage, making it a practical puzzle table with storage for smaller homes and shared living rooms. The Mimosa Hardwood Playing Card Table offers a compact square surface designed for card games, dominoes and puzzles, along with drawers featuring hinged tops and built-in cup holders. Both are intended for households that value flexibility in furniture that must serve multiple purposes.
"People increasingly want a spot for puzzles and games without giving up an entire room to the hobby," said AJ Hansen, founder of Bandpass Design. "The collection grew out of that reality. A table can host dinner one evening and hold a half-finished puzzle the next, with the pieces kept safely contained in between."
The Mimosa serves as an example of how the pieces balance form and function. Built from 100 percent hardwood, it features a playing surface covered in durable, moisture-resistant vinyl upholstery and steel folding legs that tuck beneath the table when floor space is at a premium. The Firefly, by contrast, keeps games and puzzles close at hand in a coffee-table format suited to casual use in the living room.
"Storage is central to how these tables work," Hansen added. "When a puzzle or game can be set aside and returned to later, the surface stays useful for daily life. That matters most in smaller homes and shared spaces where every piece of furniture has to earn its place."
Each table is made to order in the company's Edmonds, Washington workshop, with a typical build time of about 20 weeks. Customers can select from a range of wood species, hardware finishes and fabric options, allowing each piece to suit its intended room.
Bandpass Design specializes in modern board game and puzzle tables handcrafted for homeowners. Each table is built in the company's Edmonds, Washington workshop using solid hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, white oak and maple, and is designed to function as both furniture and a gaming surface intended to last for generations. Alongside the Puzzle Tables collection, the company produces the Dresden Board Game Dining Table and the Eolian board game shelf, and it offers buying guides, maintenance guides and interior design resources for its customers.
